How irritating are they?

Guests who insist that plates don’t be changed between courses, using as argument that after all it all goes in the same place. Oh, it does, does it? How about this novel way of serving a meal, then? Place a [large] bowl before each guest, pour into it pre-dinner drinks with accompanying salted nuts, grape tomatoes, hummus etc., then move on to the amuse-bouche, the tiny hors-d’oeuvre favored by trendy French restaurants, followed by salad and then main course, a cheese platter, dessert, coffee, and the beverages that would normally accompany the meal. Oh, and pita, gressini, whole wheat, whatever bread you serve. How about giving this a try next Thanksgiving? After all, it all goes in the same place…
